The divine guiding light: Saint Guru Jambheshwar: Guru Jambheshwar Ji was a saint who envisioned in fifteenth century the need of saving nature and initiated the sect to preach and follow the path of harmonious growth with the nature. His Twenty-Nine Commandments became the Bible for human growth and conservation of biodiversity. His commandments included directions for healthy social behaviour, personal hygiene and maintaining good basic health, and worshipping God. His teaching included compassion towards nature and protection of life as the supreme religious goal. He founded the Bishnoi sect in 1485 AD. He expounded his religious philosophy and the essence of these principles in the form of verses. These are distinguished by their vivid and conversational style and moral exhortation. Guru Jambheshwar Ji achieved `Nirvana’ in 1536 in village Lalasar District Bikaner, Rajasthan. Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology started its journey on October 20, 1995 under Haryana State Legislative Act No. 17 of 1995 at Hisar, Haryana State of India to impart education on the frontiers of Technology, Pharmacy, Environmental Studies, Non-conventional Energy Sources, Mass Media and Management Studies. Today the University is rock standing on three hundred seventy two acres of lush green land with 23 Teaching Departments classified in 10 Faculties for coordinated teaching in particular and effective governance in general. The University at present offers 59 Regular Programmes on Campus including B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Pharma, M.Pharma, B.Physiotherapy, M.Physiotherapy, B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc, M.B.A, M.Com, and M.C.A. etc. with Ph.D. degree programme in all the Departments. The University at present also offering 10 Programmes through Distance Mode, 08 through Distance Learning mode and 02 through completely Online mode. These Distance Education Programmes stand approved by the joint committee of UGC, AICTE and DEC. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) for recognition of degrees on 11.1.1996 and under section 12(B) of the UGC Act to be eligible for central assistance on 7.2.1997. The University has been accredited ‘A’ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), in 2002 as grade `A’ and has been re-accredited as grade `A’ with (CGPA 3.26), in 2009. Thereafter, the University has also been re-accredited third time as “A” Grade with (CGPA 3.28) by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore for a period of five years from 10.12.2014 to 09.12.2019 and further extended for two years i.e. upto 09.12.2021. The University at present is 'A+' Grade NAAC Accredited University from 18.10.2022 to 17.10.2027 with a CGPA of 3.38 in the 74th cycle of accreditation. Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar (Haryana) has secured rank between 251-300 in the globally renowned the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021. The University is at 28th position in India with a total score of 26.9 to 29.6. The Univesity has scored 41.7 in Citations, 35.4 in Teaching 33.4 in Industry Income, 14.4 in International outlook and 11.1 in Research. At the national level the University has secured 19th rank in Citations, 25th rank in Teaching, 54th rank in Research, 61st rank in Industry Income, 61st rank in International outlook. The University has also been ranked among 801-1000 Rank Band in the globally prestigious Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022. The University has also been ranked among 1001-1200 Rank Band in the globally prestigious Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022. The University has secured 38th rank in the country and it is the only University from mark its presence in this prestigious ranking from the Haryana state. We have also been ranked in 601-800 rank band in the ‘Physical Sciences’ subject category in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022. GJUST, Hisar has also been ranked 301-350 in The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021. In the NIRF Rankings 2020, the University has secured 31st rank Pharmacy Category, 94th Rank in the University Category and 195th Rank in Engineering Category. In the Atal Ranking of Institutional Innovations and Achievements (ARIIA-2020) by the Education Ministry, Govt. of India, the University has been ranked in BAND ‘A’ between 6th – 25th in August 2020, in the Govt. and Govt. Aided Universities Category. Scopus h-index of the University has reached to 106 which is highest in the region. Average Paper Citation is more than 19.76 which is also highest in the region. The University has International level Experimental Animal Facility in the University campus for the research work of the University students. GJUST, has been sanctioned an amount of RS. 19.46 Crores from RUSA-I (MHRD) for Infrastructure Development and Rs. 50 Crores for Research and Innovation. The construction work of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Incubation and Innovation Centre is going on in full swing to foster the research and innovation in the University campus. The University has also been granted an amount of Rs. 10.25 Crore by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, under DST-PURSE Programme. Further, the colleges affiliated from this University offer bachelor and Master degrees in Engineering, Management, Architecture, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Law, Arts, Commerce, Science and Sports etc. A total 36 Colleges have been affiliated from this University.
